This job requires an individual with initial knowledge of the DSC DEXCS, DACS-II, DACS-III, DACS-IV, or 16XX cross-connect products. The Customer Technical Assistance Center (CTAC) Engineer will travel from customer locations to acquire software database backups and at times provide front line technical suppot and, when required, interface with technical expertise from CTAC Engineer II or Senior CTAC Engineer for the product lines for the cross-connect customer.


  • Performs front line customer technical support to cross connect customers.
  • Travel from customer location to location to obtain software database copies
  • Provides phone support to customer.
  • Conducts troubleshooting as required.
  • May require travel to customer site for more in-depth troubleshooting.
  • Possesses good troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Good problem analysis capability.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel
  • Complies and follows all procedures within the company security policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • 1-3 years of technical experience with testing cross connects systems.
  •  1 year of phone customer service phone skills to communicate with customer’s technical inclination preferred.

Education Requirement

Bachelor's Degree, First Degree, Trade/Vocational School certificate or Equivalent required. Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Technology, Industrial Engineering or related field.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individual will be required to stand and walk or otherwise traverse in order to be accessible to the production floor for extended periods of time.  The person in this position will be required to regularly exert at least 10 lbs. of force to push, pull or otherwise move objects and may be required to carry or lift objects up to 50 lbs.  The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and/or documents; viewing a computer terminal; and/or visual inspection of products or machinery. The person in this position may need to occasionally sit, type, climb stairs, bend, reach, kneel, or twist for minimal periods of time.  The person in this position is required to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.  Employees should not attempt to lift, pull or push a load in excess of 50 lbs. without assistance.  Care should always be taken when lifting, pushing or pulling in an awkward position.
